St. Elizabeth (The Fall), 2012, gouache on paper, 36″x 24″
“St. Elizabeth was a holy, holy woman all her life. She was rich but gave to the poor, wore rags, prayed like crazy, did all of that. She had to get married though and had two kids but when her husband died she gave them up to a convent and gave away all her money and she lived like super poor. Once she lived with this really mean old man in a tiny room, but he was so mean she left and only said goodbye to the house and went and lived in pigsty. Once she was on a road and this old woman, who she gave money to all the time, would not get out of her way and she ended up falling in the mud but she just laughed it off. She eventually died and was yelling at Satan the whole time.”
